Empower Home Energy Tune-Up Energy Efficiency Package Saves Ohioans Money on Energy Bills; Makes Communities Healthier

Empower G&E completed its second quarter reporting on how the Empower Home Energy Tune-Up Energy Efficiency Packages is helping homeowners save money, and helping communities be healthier places to live, work and play. We are pleased to report that our low cost-high impact energy efficiency package for homeowners and tenants has had the following impacts:

Dollars Saved per Household: About $400 per year

Homeowners are seeing about 3-year payback period when they invest in making their home more energy efficient with the Empower Home Energy Tune-Up.

Dollars Invested in People’s Homes: $389,000

The real estate and remodeling industries estimate that homeowners that invest in energy efficiency upgrades to their homes can realize a 6% increase in home value.

Greenhouse Gases Saved: 53,900 Ccfs

A Ccf is a volumetric measure of natural gas. It represents the amount of gas contained in a space equal to one hundred cubic feet. When we eliminate putting greenhouse gases into our environment, we make our communities healthier, safer places to live, work and play!

Economic Impact: 4,000 people hours worked in homes

We think it’s important to keep local dollars local. That’s why Empower uses only local contractors and quality assurance professionals to install the Empower Home Energy Tune-Up

Electricity Saved: 165,375 kilowatt hours

The kilowatt hour (symbol kWh, kW. · h, or kW h) is a derived unit of energy equal to 3.6 megajoules. If the energy is being transmitted or used at a constant rate (power) over a period of time, the total energy in kilowatt-hours is the product of the power in kilowatts and the time in hours.

Greenhouse Gas Impact: Almost 1,000,000 pounds of Greenhouse Gases saved

A greenhouse gas is any gaseous compound in the atmosphere that is capable of absorbing infrared radiation, thereby trapping and holding heat in the atmosphere. By increasing the heat in the atmosphere, greenhouse gases are responsible for the greenhouse effect, which ultimately leads to global warming.
